We are thankful that so many from our community came together on this Memorial Day at World War II Veterans Memorial Park in Whiting to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

As Mayor Ken Palmer pointed out in his remarks, residents of Manchester Township have experienced the loss of those serving our Country, including three young men who graduated from our high school. It is important that we continue to honor the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives so that we may live in a free Country.

Joining Mayor Palmer at the ceremony were Council members Craig Wallis, James Vaccaro, Charles Frattini, and Joan Brush. All were touched by the proceedings, which included patriotic musical performances, a martial arts demonstration, presentation of wreaths, and playing of “taps.”

Thank you to Manchester Recreation for organizing the event, and Bert Kaye, Rev. David Rittinger, Art Wright, Whiting American Legion Post 502, the Singing Raconteurs, Manchester Township High School Marching Band, Master Manny’s Kum Sung, and Alex Torregos-Holm for your participation in the program. You all helped to make this Memorial Day commemoration special.
